About Your Role

We are bringing on a Residential Mortgage Underwriter to review and approve new opportunities for our residential portfolio.

We’re looking for an underwriter with experience working in a fast-growing, entrepreneurial environment. The position requires the ability to make consistent and objective risk assessments as part of a high-volume, deadline-driven team.

What you’ll work on:

• Adjudicating mortgage applications against internally defined criteria
• Negotiating loan terms to meet the needs of the borrower while following internal risk-tolerance guidelines
• Working with our broker partners to ensure accuracy and completeness of applications
• Ensuring compliance with privacy, anti-money laundering, anti-terrorist financing and anti-fraud policies
• Recommending applications for approval and issuing mortgage commitments
• Facilitating the handoff of committed files to the Fulfilment and Funding Team
• Working with the Fulfilment and Funding team to bring files to a close
• Collaborating with your teammates and the sales team to support the development of new products and services, while actively identifying improvements to existing offerings
• Collaborating with your team in supporting the continuous improvement and development of process, workflows, and procedures for the Underwriting department

Commercial Mortgage Underwriter

About Your Role

Are you a seasoned Commercial Underwriter with exceptional attention to detail, strong technical skills and Advanced Excel skills? Are you looking to “own” the underwriting function?

We are bringing on a Commercial Mortgage Underwriter to review and approve new opportunities for our Multi-Unit Rental (MUR) product.

We are looking for a commercial underwriter with experience working in a fast-growing, entrepreneurial environment. The position requires the ability to make consistent and objective risk assessments as part of a high-volume, deadline-driven team.

What you’ll work on:

• The incumbent will analyze and underwrite commercial credit facilities together with additional credit related and administrative duties, for conventional commercial mortgage product types. Attention must be made to ensure that compliance with company’s lending guidelines and procedures are followed with recommendations submitted for approval to management.
• Communicate regularly with internal contacts (funders, manager, underwriters, junior underwriters and originations team) as well as external contact (lending partners, mortgage brokers, solicitors, appraisers and consultants) to ensure transactions are processed in a timely and efficient manner in order to deliver superior customer service and funding deadlines
• On a monthly basis, the incumbent will be responsible for various administrative and reporting duties required for the department/Company which will be relied upon by Senior Management and Executive Leadership team
• Collaborating with your teammates and the sales team to support the development of new products and services, while actively identifying improvements to existing offerings

Executive Assistant

About Your Role

The Executive Assistant reports directly to the COO and is responsible for managing an active calendar of appointments, completing expense reports, composing, and preparing correspondence and arranging detailed travel plans including itineraries and agendas. Absolute confidentiality, integrity and professionalism is required in addition to expertise in Office programs such as PowerPoint, Word, and Excel. Your goal is to optimize the use of the COO’s time based on direction, priorities, and your own superior judgment. This position works closely with the Senior Leadership Team.

What you’ll work on:

• Completes a broad variety of administrative tasks for the COO and Special Assignments
• Completes expense reports
• Plans, coordinates, and ensures the COO’s schedule is followed, respected, and stays on time
• Receives incoming communications or memos on behalf of senior staff, reviews content, determines importance and summarizes and/or distributes content to appropriate staff
• Coordinates reporting requirements for senior level managers to fulfill recurring reporting requirements (i.e. AOP, MOR etc.) to ensure all deadlines are met
• Provides a bridge for smooth communications between the COO’s office and other departments
• Assists the COO by gathering data, creating, and compiling reports, writing memorandums and other internal communications and more.

Business Development Manager (Southwestern Ontario)

About Your Role

Reporting to the Senior Director, Mortgage Origination, the Business Development Manager (Southwestern Ontario) is responsible for managing a portfolio of accounts to achieve long-term growth and success. The Business Development Manager (Southwestern Ontario) will focus on being a value-added partner to all brokers in the Business Development Manager’s portfolio. The Business Development Manager (Southwestern Ontario) will generate further growth of their broker portfolio as well as develop new brokers to add to their portfolio. We’re looking for a sales professional who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. The position requires comfort talking with our broker partners daily.

What you’ll work on:

• Develop and implement strategies to increase mortgage volumes from referral sources/mortgage brokers within a designated territory
• Manage the referral sources/mortgage brokers to ensure applications fall within the targeted risk area
• Ensure funded volumes are at a level required to meet if not exceed the unit’s business plan
• Participate in the preparation of the Annual Business Plan
• Ensure an effective call program (both face-to-face as well as by phone or email) is developed and maintained for referral sources/mortgage brokers to ensure the maximum referral opportunities are obtained, through relationship development and management
• Work effectively with management, underwriters, and admin staff to ensure referral sources/mortgage brokers receive a high level of service
• Stay abreast of all related industry issues and ensure the unit remains current with all relevant industry issues and more.

Administrative Assistant

We are bringing on an Administration Assistant to oversee the schedule and upkeep of our Kanata office and to support our departments, specifically Default & Discharges with administrative tasks. This is an onsite role, in the Kanata office 5 days a week. This role could eventually lead to an upward movement into other departments.

What you’ll work on:

• Be seen as the customer service representative for the organization
• As required, handles incoming calls directing as appropriate to internal recipients
• Fielding client inquiries via phone, email, and regular post mail such as discharge requests, penalty inquiries, statement requests, etc.
• Fosters positive relationships with key third party partners including brokers, realtors, appraiser, building inspectors, legal firms, and trustees
• Preparation of quarterly and annual statements for our clients both recurring and on their request and more.
