Renewals Specialist

About Your Role

Reporting to the Manager of Renewals, the Renewals Specialist is responsible for working with clients as their mortgage matures and identifying needs, negotiating rates, and recommending solutions. The incumbent will follow up with clients for signed renewal agreement and supporting documents, and routinely interact with borrowers, brokers, and other staff members from a variety of departments.

We’re looking for a team member who can work independently with borrowers and staff and become their single source of information upon maturity. Accuracy and meeting deadlines are critical to avoid confusion and lack of clarity for borrowers and other Magenta team members.

What you’ll work on:

• Proactively develop, strengthen, and maintain relationship with borrowers and brokers.
• Handle an array of customer inquiries at all stages of the file.
• Work with brokers to understand customer’s needs and to reach a common goal.
• Review inefficiencies on an ongoing basis while making recommendations to management.
• Achieve all specified departmental and individual performance goals and objectives regarding various renewal types.

Residential Underwriter

About Your Role 

Reporting to the Manager, Underwriting, the Senior Residential Underwriter is responsible for evaluating mortgage applications, assessing borrower risk and creditworthiness, and ensuring compliance with lending guidelines while providing mentorship to junior underwriters.

We’re looking for a Senior Underwriter with experience working in a fast-growing, entrepreneurial environment. The position requires the ability to make consistent and objective risk assessments as part of a high-volume, deadline-driven team.

What you’ll work on:

• Adjudicating mortgage applications against internally defined criteria
• Negotiating loan terms to meet the needs of the borrower while following internal risk-tolerance guidelines
• Working with our broker partners to ensure accuracy and completeness of applications
• Ensuring compliance with privacy, anti-money laundering, anti-terrorist financing and anti-fraud policies
• Recommending applications for approval and issuing mortgage commitments
• Facilitating the handoff of committed files to the Fulfilment and Funding Team

Funding Specialist

About Your Role

As a member of the Mortgage Administration Team, the Funding Specialist reviews legal documentation to ensure accuracy within the established guidelines, allowing mortgage loans to be funded on scheduled closing dates. What you’ll work on:

• Prepare and send solicitor instruction packages.
• Review legal mortgage documentation to ensure alignment with committed terms, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
• Escalate documentation issues or exceptions for review and approval.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with solicitors.
• Liaise with solicitors to collect all required closing documentation.
• Coordinate with team members to ensure timely release of mortgage funds.

Fulfillment Officer (Mortgage Industry)

About Your Role

As a member of the Underwriting department, the Fulfillment Officer reviews, approves, and escalates mortgage documentation received from our broker partners. The objective of the Fulfillment Officer is to review and process mortgage documentation to ensure they meet Magenta’s mortgage asset quality standards, while at the same time optimizing new advances volume.

We’re looking for a Fulfillment Officer with experience working in fast-growing, entrepreneurial environments. The position requires the ability to make consistent and objective risk assessments as part of a high-volume, deadline-driven team.

What you’ll work on:

• Working with brokers to collect all required broker conditions to ensure the accuracy and completeness of applications.
• Reviewing all documentation related to broker conditions; responsible for validating and verifying application data as well as ensuring that it matches committed terms and follows established regulatory and company guidelines and policies.
• Updating application details in the mortgage underwriting system when updated information received.
• Escalating any documentation issues, including fraud, to the Underwriter, Team Lead, Manager or Director for review and sign off.
• Escalating any exceptions to Underwriter, Manager or Director for review and sign off.

Residential Underwriter

We’re looking for an underwriter with experience working in a fast-growing, entrepreneurial environment. The position requires the ability to make consistent and objective risk assessments as part of a high-volume, deadline-driven team.

What you’ll work on:

• Adjudicating mortgage applications against internally defined criteria
• Negotiating loan terms to meet the needs of the borrower while following internal risk-tolerance guidelines

• Ensuring compliance with privacy, anti-money laundering, anti-terrorist financing and anti-fraud policies

• Collaborating with your teammates and the sales team to support the development of new products and services, while actively identifying improvements to existing offerings

Manager, Underwriting

About Your Role

We are bringing on a Manager, Residential Mortgage Underwriting to review and approve new opportunities for our residential portfolio.

We’re looking for an Underwriting Manager with experience working in a fast-growing, entrepreneurial environment. The position requires the ability to make consistent and objective risk assessments as part of a high-volume, deadline-driven team. The Manager will be expected to provide daily leadership, mentoring, training, and guidance to team members, while also managing team operations, productivity, and efficiency. The Underwriting Manager will additionally be expected to maintain and manage their own pipeline of underwritten deals, as well as the pipeline of their direct reports.

What you’ll work on:

• Lead, mentor, and coach all underwriting team staff to develop them according to their personal abilities and development plan, in order to achieve company-set objectives.
• Enable team members to achieve consistent and quality credit decisions while minimizing errors.
• Monitor daily operations of underwriting staff, review pipeline volumes, track backlogs and manage workflow.
• Deal management and providing solutions to our broker clients as well as managing escalations and contacting brokers when needed.
• Maintain an efficient and effective workflow by managing the productivity of the underwriting team, assigning priorities, reviewing quality standards, and ensuring quality standards are met – Create and maintain various reports which will assist with the management of the team’s daily workflow and individual staff performance. Use the data obtained from reporting to motivate, mentor, support and lead the team.
